HVO

What is HVO?

HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) is a premium renewable diesel fuel produced from sustainable feedstocks such as vegetable oils and waste fats. Unlike conventional fossil diesel, HVO is manufactured through an advanced hydro-treatment process that creates a cleaner-burning, high-performance fuel.

HVO is a direct replacement for regular diesel and can be used in all diesel engines without any modifications, offering the same performance while significantly reducing your carbon footprint.

Key Benefits of HVO

Key Benefits of HVO

HVO can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% compared to conventional fossil diesel, helping you meet sustainability targets.

Drop-In Replacement

No engine modifications required. HVO works seamlessly in all diesel engines, vehicles, and heating systems.

Superior Performance

Enhanced cold weather performance, cleaner combustion, and reduced engine maintenance requirements.

Reduced Emissions

Lower particulate matter, NOx emissions, and significantly reduced soot compared to standard diesel.

Longer Storage Life

HVO has excellent stability and can be stored for extended periods without degradation.

100% Renewable

Produced from sustainable and certified renewable feedstocks, including waste materials.

Applications

Commercial Transport: Ideal for fleet operators looking to reduce their carbon footprint without compromising on performance.

Construction & Agriculture: Perfect for heavy machinery and agricultural equipment.

Heating Systems: Can be used as a renewable heating fuel for industrial and commercial heating systems.

Emergency Power: Ideal for backup generators and emergency power systems.

Sustainability & Certification

Our HVO is certified under the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) scheme, ensuring that it meets the highest standards for sustainability and traceability.

The feedstocks used in HVO production are carefully selected from sustainable sources, including:

Used cooking oil

Animal fats from food industry waste

Certified sustainable vegetable oils

Other waste-based feedstocks

Frequently Asked Questions

What is HVO?

HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) is a renewable diesel alternative produced from waste oils and fats and other sustainable feedstocks. It is refined using hydrogen in a process called hydrotreating, resulting in a clean burning, high quality fuel suitable for road vehicles, machinery, generators and heating systems.

How long can HVO be stored?

HVO has an exceptionally long storage life compared to fossil diesel.
Because it contains no FAME (biodiesel), it is highly stable and can typically be stored for up to 10 years under proper conditions.
This makes it ideal for static generators, backup power systems and low turnover tanks.

How much does HVO reduce carbon emissions?

HVO can reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% compared to conventional diesel.
This reduction varies depending on the feedstock used, but all certified HVO meets strict sustainability criteria.

Can HVO be used in existing diesel engines?

Yes. HVO is a drop in replacement for diesel.
It meets EN15940 standards and is compatible with most modern diesel engines without modification.
Many major manufacturers (Volvo, Scania, Mercedes, John Deere, JCB, etc.) approve its use.

Is HVO better for storage than diesel?

Yes. HVO has:
•     No FAME content
•     Very low water absorption
•     Excellent oxidation stability
•     Minimal microbial growth risk
This means fewer tank issues, cleaner filters and longer storage periods.

Does HVO improve engine performance?

HVO burns cleaner than diesel, producing:
•     Lower particulate emissions
•     Less soot
•     Smoother combustion
•     Reduced exhaust odour
Engines often run quieter and cleaner, with less DPF regeneration.

Is HVO sustainable?

Yes. All Naas Oil HVO is ISCC certified, meaning it is produced from sustainable waste based feedstocks and meets strict EU sustainability and traceability standards.

What types of HVO do Naas Oil supply?

We supply the same high quality HVO fuel under three Revenue duty categories:
•     HVO Road – for road vehicles
•     HVO Off Road – for agricultural and construction machinery
•     HVO Static – for generators and fixed plant
The fuel is identical, only the duty rate differs.

Can HVO be mixed with diesel?

Yes. HVO can be blended with diesel in any ratio.
Most customers switch to HVO by topping up existing diesel tanks.

Why choose HVO from Naas Oil?

•     ISCC certified supply
•     Reliable delivery
•     Expert support
•     Suitable for fleets, machinery, generators and heating
•     Significant carbon reduction for ESG reporting
